I was watching Lucy on netflix (a movie about what happens when you use more than 10 percent of your brain). It's a pretty gruesome movie, but I love it lol.
It got me to thinking "what happens when you use more than 10% of your creativity?".
There's actually a study on this. Firstly introduced to me on a call with a social media strategy client by the name of Christina.
Reading this made me reconsider how much of my creative capacity was utilized this year.
Soon, more questions poured in.
"what happens when you create your own options"
'what happens when you stop making excuses"
"what happens when you choose yourself"
2023 was the start of asking these questions to the universe and to myself, long story short.. it worked.
Here are my official stats for 2023:
Worked with 25+ clients in a 1 on 1 capacity
Acquired over 500+ new leads between different offers and my newsletter Girl, is that a UFO?
Gained 5,000 new followers
Acquired over 1M total impressions on instagram alone
Started a new tiktok and gained 300 followers
Made over $10k with digital products though strategic instagram selling.
Now let's get into how 2023 transformed my thinking, creative capacity, and willingness to f*ck around and find out -written December 23rd 2023:
10%
10% creativity is everyone's starting line. I could hazily see where I wanted to go creatively, and now I needed to implement my strategy to make the increase I needed. 10 is an uncomfortable stage because you know growth is ahead.
The most pivotal moment for me was quitting makeup for good. I actually had the thought to quit makeup long before I was brave enough to go through with it, this was back in 2021. I closed my business down for about 3 months. For clarity, I stopped taking clients, and was focused 100% educating makeup artist on using social media and leveling up their craft. that didn’t last long because, bills. At that time I wanted to quit because I didn’t really enjoy it much any more. It made me sad. My sadness stemmed from feeling stuck. Feeling like I didn’t have options.
Months later I decided to pursue the thing i’ve always wanted to. Social media. I’ve always loved social media. I love the way that someone can create a business, build a strategy, and scale their business.
I bravely did the thing that scared me the most, the same thing that I knew was covered in purpose and impact.
25%
25% creativity is where things start to feel fun. Still a bit uncomfortable. Like when you're trying to grow out a pixie cut, that awkward phase. It feels awkward because you're doing the work but don't full trust your intuition.
Between January and May I tested. I tested my thoughts. Every thought that I had was put into action. I wanted to minimize the time between thought and action. To see what could come of it. I thought of creating long form content, I created that content and posted it. I thought of helping entrepreneurs using social media to build their personal brand, Apollo 44 was born - the precursor to SocialXcelerator. I thought, acted, and reduced all distractions.
55%
55% is a where I started seeing the shift. The work I was putting in was finally being recognized and trusted by those in my online community. More importantly I felt a new sense of confidence within. I knew that if I had an idea I could execute it with this new title "social media strategist"
Testing my ideas created evidence for success. I stopped wondering "if" people would like what I put out, if people would invest in the courses or e-books I created, and instead I KNEW they would for sure. I had a new sense of confidence. The way I posted online shifted. I knew I was the expert, which led me to my first job as a Brand Director for a local Atlanta hair company in July of this year until September. I learned alot about marketing from that role. I also learned what I don't want. I produced 5 content campaigns for the brand and strategized their content to be posted by their social media manager. This is a pivotal moment for me. I could've stayed in this role just for bragging rights, but decided that learning, failing, and shifting quickly would be my superpower.
Soon after, in October, I decided to create an online store using Printify, Canva Ai, and Shopify called Not of this Planet. Not of this Planet was the actualization of all of the research and ideology i'd acquired in the year. I thought, "what would happen if I took the same advice I gave to my clients and started a new business with it". I documented the process of creating it and launched within 30-days and it had a launch weekend profit of $1,000+, this is rare for most dropshipping companies because people don't trust it, but my people trusted me. Soon after I dropped a dropshipping ebook on the basics of dropshipping.
75%
75% was a moment for me to go in a completely new direction. Another test, a new level. 75% was an aha moment that I could really do anything I put my mind too, I could be myself, and there was a tribe of people waiting to support me. VERIFIED!
November and December of this year felt like placing a bow on a new car, like the cherry on top. I developed full trust in my intuition. Moving, flowing, believing, and making the money I was too scared to make when I was operating at 10%. I used a e-book I created in september to do a $1 sale. a $1 sale on a $20 e-book is so unheard of. But to my suprise nearly 300 people purchase in a matter of 24 hours.
I also took time out of November to build a new course on content creation called SocialXcelerator. I've coined it the #1 Content Course for Female Entrepreneurs, because I know that it is that. Again, trusting my intuition. 11 people enrolled in 24 hours at only $350 per person. Or you could choose the payment plan for $187.
This is the most impactful yet affordable course i've ever created. This is the most fulfilled i've felt in a long time.
100%
100% creativity means that you are consistently and fully tapping into your creative potential. It means generating innovative ideas, content, and strategies that are highly engaging and effective for your clients. To achieve this level of creativity, you might need to be in a state of flow, where ideas flow effortlessly, and you're able to think outside the box to create content that stands out and captures your audience's attention. It often involves being open to new perspectives, experimenting with different approaches, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what you can create to achieve the best results for your clients in terms of increased Instagram analytics and leads.
Reaching 100% in my creative capacity feels liberating. I feel invincible. I feel worthy. I feel confident. I feel unstoppable. 2023 was the year of questions, if I f*ck around, what will I find out?
2024 will be the year of confirmation.
